There is a theory that they take their name from the stalls or boothin the Royal Mile, near St. Giles, in Edinburgh.  It is thought that the luken derives from locking or else look in.They were usually given as a token of love, much as an engagement ring is today and often used as a talisman to ward off evil.

Please allow 5 working days for your brooch to be set with the stone of your choice.
